About the UTA

The United Train of Artillery is based in Providence, RI and committed to educating the public about the Revolutionary War and colonial life in New England. By bringing a Revolutionary War encampment alive with authentic field pieces, battle scenarios, tents, attire, crafting and authentic campfire cooking, the UTA aims to interest and engage all ages in living history through experience.

Our membership is varied, and is comprised of members who portray soldiers and camp followers. In their daily lives our membership is comprised of people from many different walks of life; school teachers, craftsmen, health care workers, amateur history buffs, retirees and students are all part of our ranks. Our membership, while mostly based in New England, comes from as far south as New Jersey, and as far north as Ontario, Canada.

Interested in joining the UTA? Please contact us! We are a family-friendly organization, always interested in welcoming new members to our ranks. Both men and women can join the artillery crew if over 16. Anyone of any age can portray a camp follower. We will provide assistance acquiring the necessary uniform or wardrobe.
